This is a Butthole Surfers’ song from Rembrandt Pussy Horse album. It also is a collaboration of two Irish electronic projects, Magnetize and The Last Sound. Their music is hard trance for me. Or maybe industrial acid techno. Even it also reminds me of early Ministry and Skinny Puppy. The label says: „For fans of classic Alec Empire, Justin Broadrick or modern day Downwards Records.”

“Pere Ubu is mainstream rock. Justin Timberlake is weird experimental music. Robbie Williams is avant-garde. Britney Spears is constantly coming up with something new and innovative. Pere Ubu does the same old thing. ‘New’ is a trap and a scam to dupe student-types and other naive people.”*
Pere Ubu is a band. It was formed in Cleveland in the mid-70s after the break-up of garage rock band Rockets From The Tombs. The most famous RFTT song is the Sonic Reducer. It would be a punk anthem by The Dead Boys, which was formed by the one half of RFTT.
Pere Ubu plays experimental rock. The only constant member is David Thomas. On his albums he has talked nonsene about art of walking and sleep walk, barking dogs and horses, guitars and girls, clouds and weather, honey moon and Monday morning, Steve and Michele, Heaven and Hell, ice cream truck and stolen Cadillac, the flames over Nebraska and winter in the Firelands, and so on until 414 seconds.
The moon and the monkeys are the two main motifs of the new Pere Ubu album Carnival of Souls. But you can also find there e.g. Greyhounds, maps, stars, love and duck. But if all these wouldn’t be tempting enough for you, a number of the songs were developed from an underscore composed for the classic B-category horror movie Carnival of Souls.

Originally Secret Valley was an Australian children’s television adventure series. There was a holiday camp which had been transformed from a run down ghost town into a resort. The children often found themselves in battle against a gang of „bad” kids. These battles usually featured flour bombs and other food related missiles and everyone inevitably ended up in a big mess. The children have grown up and make this messy ghost pop music

They have written that their new album shows the band’s evolution through a blend of pop sensibilities with post punk and noise rock. OK, but every music after punk is post punk. And compared to this, every rock is noise.
with very poor fantasy – but can be said in their favour – not by the band.
Debut album this month.

If you’re a frequent visitor on our site, I’m sure that you know Reverend Beat-Man and his record label, Voodoo Rhythm Records. He has been nominated for the Swiss Music Prize, which will be awarded for the first time on 19 September. Among the nominates also are the folk-punk band Mama Rosin, and the avant-garde music group Ensemble Phoenix Basel, in which you can find Alex Buess, who is also member of the experimental space rock trio MIR.
„My biggest idol has always been Batman, so everyone just called me Beat-Man.
Now my name is just Beat-Man, even in my passport.”
Born Beat Zeller in 1967 near Berne, Reverend Beat-Man has become a firm fixture on the music scene. He first tried his hand as a singer and musician at the age of 13 before forming his band The Monsters in 1986 and setting up his own record label Voodoo Rhythm Records in 1992. With The Monsters, Zeller created an entirely new genre that fuses psychobilly with garage punk and went on to showcase it with more than a thousand concerts in South America, Japan, Australia, the US and the rest of the world. He attained cult status thanks in no small part to this work with Voodoo Rhythm Records, which has gained him a reputation as a resolute champion of innovative and experimental artists. In Switzerland, his achievements were honoured with the Canton of Berne Special Recognition Award in 2007.
A short film has been made about Beat-Man on the occasion of his nomination
„We are all mountain people with weird, hard, heavy and strange ideas.”
„to be on stage with Howlin’ Wolf once
that would have been the greatest for me.”
„The Rolling Stones today (…) just shit, Mick Jagger and such, boring as hell.”
Vaadat Charigim is the new band of Juval from TV Buddhas. The latter is a primaeval garage rock band. The new one is a shoegaze, exactly like the title of this post with the voice of Morrissey and Ian Curtis (Joy Division). The latter statement was declared by New Musical Express. The British magazine has given 8 points from the 10 for the Israeli band’s debut album which was released by Burger Records (US). It’s about how the Israeli youth feels themselves in their homeland where the war is so natural.
“Let’s become nothing together; let’s run away and disappear.”
– It’s a conversation between a guy and a girl.
I’ve had that kind of conflict living in Berlin — it was like leaving the real world here
in Israel and moving to a place that’s safe for young people to not do anything
or do whatever they dream. It’s kind of like disappearing, in a way.”

The audience say:
„Holy crap. It sounds like early Pixies went black metal.”
„It’s like the Dum Dum Girls and Dark Throne.”
The competent, Jorge Elbrecht reply:
„I love black metal as much as I love Sonic Youth and the ’60s pop stuff.”
I say: It comes the Liturgy to my mind.

First two albums of Tinariwen will be released on vinyl first time by Light In The Attic Records (US). Tinariwen is a bunch of Tuaregs, they play traditional Tuareg music,
which is influenced by blues and Hendrix.
„WE LOVE ALL THE DESERT, THESE ARE PLACES
WHERE WE FEEL GOOD TO LIVE AND TO CREATE.”
3 tracks from the album „Amassakoul” which was released originally in 2004.
Tuaregs are nomadic people in the Sahara. When African countries achieved widespread independence in the 1960s, the traditional Tuareg territory was divided among a number of countries. The situation naturally led to some (unsuccessful) uprisings. They’re living as refugees in some countries of Africa.
“TINARIWEN IS A BAND BORN INTO CHAOS.”
The founder, Ibrahim Ag Alhabib saw a cowboy to play on guitar in a western film in his childhood. After the happy end he fabricated his first guitar from a tin can, a stick and bicycle brake wire. He has formed his band in a Libyan Tuareg refugee camp, where they were under military training in 1979. When the revolution broke out in their homeland in 1990, they left Libya behind, put down their instruments and took up guns to fight for the Tuareg independence in Mali. When the conflict died down, the band returned to music. And they have become successful refugees around the world.
The first album ” The Radio Tisdas Session” almost in full.
It was released originally in 2001.
For Tuaregs the Sahara is not one desert but many,
they call it Tinariwen, id est: The Deserts.

“Self Employment is the key to an early grave, I see this in lots of musician friends of mine as well. You are your own travel agent, your own booking agent, your own photographer, your own graphic designer, your own manager, your own producer… on top of that you are a musician. With my show I am the drummer, singer, guitarist and sometimes harmonica player, you could say it is not a way of life, it IS life”.
