Don’t Panic, Just Missiles of October!

Which October? The Glorious Red one of Russia in 1917? Maybe the time is here again? Disintegration, distortion, decline, civil war, violence and terror, but finally from the bloody chaos the brave new world rise up and literally break your freedom on the wheel for the sake of the forever Golden Age.

missleoctober

These Missiles of October come from Belgium with cruel thrash punk attack. They mix punk with thrash metal without guitar solos, like the Oozing Wound in Chicago. It’s not a revolutionary act, just „loud, dirty and angry.” But why angry? Maybe because this little country has 7 governments, 7 parliaments and one king. But why just one? Why not 7?

Soft Pink Black Metal

Some days ago there was an astound news about Black Pus/Oozing Wound split LP by Thrill Jockey Records. Here is the next one

electroblack

Why Do The Heathen Rage?

is a collection of electronic covers of black metal classics by Soft Pink Truth. It’s solo project of Drew Daniel from experimental electronic duo Matmos. His partners in crime: Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Jenn Wasner from indie-folkrock duo Wye Oak, Terrance Hannum from drone-metal band Locrian, his Matmos partner M.C. Schmidt and more. So

„Open the door, enter hells core
Black is the code for tonight
Atomic force, feel no remorse
Crank up the amps now it’s night
BLACK METAL
lay down your soul to the gods rock `n’ roll”

The original

Tracklist: 1. Invocation for Strength  2. Black Metal (Venom)  3. Sadomatic Rites (Beherit)  4. Ready to Fuck (Sarcófago)  5. Satanic Black Devotion (Sargeist)  6. Beholding the Throne of Might (Darkthrone)  7. Let There Be Ebola Frost (AN)  8. Buried by Time and Dust (Mayhem)  9. Maniac (Hellhammer)  10. Grim and Frostbitten Gay Bar (Impaled Northern Moonforest)

„One of our main distributors has refused to carry the record due to this content… that’s no joke.” was written by the publisher Thrill Jockey Records (US). It’s out on LP/CD on June 16th.

Drew Daniel has released a similar album in 2004: Do You Want New Wave (Or Do You Want The Soft Pink Truth?) which consisted house covers of classic hardcore and punk songs. For example: Minor Threat – Out Of Step

Strange Marriage

BLACK PUS / OOZING WOUND split 12″ featuring brand new tracks from each.
Out on 17th June by Thrill Jockey Records on limited edition LP/DL

blackooz3

BLACK PUS is „raucous and otherworldly” solo drum project of Brian Chippendale, the drummer of hard noise rock duo Lightning Bolt. He has been chosen by Björk and The Flaming Lips as a collaborator and played on Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Repentance album (2008). OOZING WOUND is a classic, but a little unorthodox thrash metal band, because there aren’t guitar solos. In May 2013 they opened up for Black Pus in their hometown Chicago… These songs aren’t from the split! Just as samples

„We’re all just trying to be the people we wanted to be at 13.”

Oozing Wound – Retrash

It’s unnecessary to write about this album too many words. It’s fuckin’ good THRASH METAL. I’m very pleased; it’s enormously amusing and impossible to get bored with these perfect 32 minutes. Just Slayer, Exodus, Voivod, Nuclear Assault and Pantera came to my mind during the listening, and sometimes the Ministry. Moreover there aren’t guitar solos. It’s extra delight for me, because I like Uncle King’s solos alone.

“We’re so cool that we don’t care that we’re not cool.”

The cement mixer operators have very colourful antecedents. It’s surprising that two of them played bass in avant-garde performance art rock band, Lovely Little Girls.  And there are acoustic folk, hard-edge-pop and garage rock bands also. The immediate antecedents:
a noise rock band of Kyle (drums): Bad Drugs,
an old copied cassette thrash band of Zach (guitar, vocal): Zath,
and a thrashy noise punk band of both: Cacaw.

„Evil is ageless. You can be a 90-year-old wizard and still play metal.”

And there is another surprise. Their debut album was released by Thrill Jockey Records.
They’re interesting in avant-garde – experimental – psychedelic music mainly. Some artists from the roster: Jan St. Werner (Mouse on Mars), Black Pus, Boredoms, David Byrne, Chicago Underground, White Hills, Tortoise, Wooden Shjips. So this isn’t a conventional metal album.

Zach: When I was 13 I wanted to be Kurt Cobain.
Kevin (bass): I wanted to be Les Claypool.
Zach: And Kyle wanted to be Dale Crover. (Drummer of the Melvins)

TODAY’S NEW VIDEO

Do you like thrash metal, but don’t like guitar solos?
Yes, it’s a real problem. The solution is OOZING WOUND

They come from Chicago, and their debut album was released recently by Thrill Jockey

From New Records

oozingwound

Some people can write all sort of stupidity about them: punk, hardcore, crossover, Big Black(?). No, the Oozing Wound is a first-class Thrash Metal band without all the banalities of metal, for example needless guitar solos and high-pitched shrieks. Not accidentally the Thrill Jockey to release their debut album. It is not truly a metal label, rather experimental. Some artist from the rotate: Black Pus, Boredom, Chicago Underground, Mouse On Mars, Tortoise, White Hills.
